Conspiracy Against Google

From a look at Viacom's suit against YouTube, this concern about Torrent sites.

If Viacom wins the copyright infringement suit against YouTube, it will only open a whole new can of worms. A victory will spell the end of so many websites providing copied video content. Just think of the hundreds of Torrent sites that will now face hands full of lawsuits from every single studio.

Listen Up!

Torrent sites are helping the attention economy.

Fast forward to today. It’s a matter of everything is available on one of a myriad of torrent sites. Some sites I frequent have more music than I could listen to in several lifetimes, if I was to listen continuously from the time I had ears to the time I died. Anything, everything. Hw to filter it and get what turns you on?

Basking In Geekery

This blogger breaks the code on torrent sites.

After repeatedly committing myself to countless downloads of the 5000 various BitTorrent Mac OSX clients out there, and then learning how to use the damn thing, I finally mastered it today. And when said mastering involves realising what exactly torrent sites are for, a good dose of head slapping upside the head occurs.

Suprnova.org: Two Years Since The Shutdown

Click through for the history of the BitTorrent site Suprnova.org.

Suprnova.org launched in the fall of 2002. At that time it was one of the few BitTorrent sites on the Internet. Suprnova was founded by Andrej Preston, a Slovenian teenager better known as Sloncek. Initially he wanted to name the site Supernova, but that name was already taken.

Zip-ity-do-da

zip.ca is Canadian for Netflix, and apparently better than any torrent sites.

So, the first thing that makes this worthwhile is the huge library. Blockbuster’s got nothing on these guys. Lots of kids stuff, lots of current stuff, more TV series than you could possible fathom. We even have some UK series on our list (Blackadder, A Bit of Fry and Laurie) that we’d never be able to get from the local store, or at any sort of quality from any of the Torrent sites.
